“This piece was inspired by the unusual shape of this opal, which reminded me of a stiletto. I love working with Australian opal, as their unique shapes and patterns open up a world of possibilities for design and creativity.”

“Giulians is synonymous with sophisticated style and mesmerizing quality gems. For years, I have enjoyed custom designing pieces of jewelery with Giulians’ Gary Coffey.
His years of expertise and his eye for selecting and pairing stones for one’s own personal collection has always kept me coming back for more ”

“At the end of March I was lucky enough to be on holiday in Sydney and ‘popped’ in to browse your pearls and opals. I was originally met by Gary and was totally blown away by his knowledge and charisma and after settling on a pearl (which was slightly larger than I was originally looking for!) it was set it for me and after a couple of hours I was the proud owner of a South Sea pearl. I’m now back in sunny but chilly England and happy to report that I think my pearl looks as beautiful on a pale English décolleté swathed in a woolly jumper as it did on a sun-kissed warm one!”
Boulder opal is often cut into unusual or free-form shapes due to the way it forms. The gems are always cut and polished with the strong natural host rock retained to form part of the gem. Similar to black opals, boulder can display vibrant play-of-colour ranging from bright blue-greens through to rare cherry reds. Boulder opals, as the name suggests, are mined from large ironstone boulders under the ground. Thin veins of colourful opal forms in cracks and fissures in these boulders.
